Piramidi is a dive site addressed only for divers with Deep Diver certification.
When weather conditions do not permit the exit of boats from the port, Piramidi is the perfect dive site because it is also accessible from the ground.
It is easily accessible by car or with the municipal minibus and is located in zone B between Punta Spalmatore and Punta Cavazzi.
This dive is very much appreciated for the presence of two submerged mountains and narrow canyons.
We will start our journey from the wharf of Punta Spalmatore. Fun starts at just 3/4 meters depth, where it is possible to observe numerous species of small fish and large specimens of starfish, like the Mediterranean red sea star and the blue spiny starfish. Continuing our descent, at an 8-10 meters depth we will find a vast landscape covered in seagrass, where a great variety of fish and invertebrates find their home.
Carrying on, a few meters forward, the plateau is characterized by the presence of large boulders where we can see specimens of groupers that swim right next to us.
On the border between the plateau and the coast line, there is the entrance of a steep canyon, perfect for lovers of the underwater wall diving.
Proceeding one at a time, we will be surrounded by walls covered with yellow cluster anemone and colonies of orange coral, which provide a breathtaking spectacle.
Arriving at a 35 meters depth, the canyon ends in a large area with large rocky ridges on the left and a large wall on the right.
Keeping the wall on the right, we can meet the entrance of a large cave. From the sandy bottom we will see numerous fan mussels and Mediterranean fanworms emerging.
Along the cave and in the opposite direction of the canyon, we can find a second small cave, less visible during the first descent. The path, which is characterized by modest depth, offers, once we arrive at the base of the wharf, to carry out the safety stop.
